You sign up by answering a questionnaire that gives the survey company basic information about you and sometimes your household. You do not get paid for becoming a panelist. The survey company decides what surveys they offer you to participate in. Some companies have varying participation requirements concerning how to maintain active panelist status. Some require you to answer at least one survey per year to remain active. The amount of time you devote to answering them, if you qualify to participate in the survey, will largely determine how much you make.
