It is a very successful method that buys advertising on search engine result pages. Who hasn't used a search engine? The search engine result pages are set up to show the sites most relevant to the word or phrase searched. The most relevant is shown first and so on. Did you notice the small listings on the right side of the page? Well, those are adword advertisements. Google calls them Sponsered Links. Their purpose is to get you to use their site link rather than the one the search engine provided. Those ads are purchased to give increased visibility to the site link. The link ultimately leads to the merchant you are advertising for as an affiliate. The search engine might show those adword advertisement sites on page 50 of the search results. But by paying a fee, you can get your merchants' site link on page 1 of the search results. Would you rather have your site link on page 1 or page 50? Seriously, who looks beyond a couple of pages of results when they have done a search? The increased visibility of your adword advertising site link will lead to more visitors to your site. More visitors means more customers. More customers means more sales. And, of course more sales means more money.
